Life in the Ego

“Ego is just like dust in the eyes. Without clearing the dust, we can’t see anything clearly, so clear the ego and see the world.” Anonymous

What is the Ego?

The ego is often defined as a person’s sense of self esteem or self importance. Overall, it defines who we are and how we interact with others. Everyone has an ego whether it’s good or bad. When a healthy ego is at play, an individual will display confidence, a sense of self worth, and a respectful demeanor. On the flip side, an unhealthy ego will be all over the map. An individual may display jealousy, poor self esteem, and a sense of entitlement.

Identifying the Ego

Some individuals may be unable to tell the difference between the ego and the genuine self. The ego can be fueled by false beliefs and expectations. It can evoke powerful emotional outbursts and distort an individual’s view of reality. Thoughts rooted in fear are a good indicator the ego is running the show. The genuine self will operate from a place of love and the mind will be in a state of calmness.

The ego is reactive and it has to be acknowledged; it views change as its own death. The ego is a collection of our opinions, which is the gospel in our eyes. Everyone is composed of light and dark energy but the ego tends to focus on the dark and exploit vulnerabilities. The genuine self will never make you feel like you have something to prove or you have to defend yourself.

Releasing the Ego

For starters, it’s a good idea to observe the mind and the quality of your thoughts. The mind will manifest the thoughts that are impressed on it the most. You have to get in the habit of questioning the way you think and why you think the way you do. No one likes a stubborn, know it all person!

It’s important to let go of false beliefs and limitations. You have to be willing to embrace the dark energy and complete your shadow work to start your awakening. Many individuals are holding on to experiences and pain they never dealt with properly. They end up hindering their spiritual growth and providing a platform for the ego to continue as it sees fit.

You have to see the bigger picture and understand you are here for a purpose. When you align with your purpose, it allows you to excel to your highest potential. It enables you to create meaning opportunities for yourself and others.

Being the best version of yourself should always be your number one goal!
