Self Love

What is self love and are you practicing it on a consistent basis?

Self love is used to describe your well-being and happiness. It’s the practice of taking care your needs and not sacrificing your well-being for the sake of others. You should show compassion and be kind to yourself. Practicing self love doesn’t mean you are better than anyone else; it helps to ensure you are not settling for less than you deserve. Everything starts with you; if you don’t love yourself, you will never be able to truly love anyone else.

Self love is important because it motivates you to make better choices in life and it enables you to live up to your full potential. You will become conscious when deciding what foods to eat, whether to exercise, and how you interact with others. Ultimately, you will strive to align everything for your highest good. Engaging in self love also renews your spirit and allows you to let go of negativity. Often times, we may find ourselves in negative environments such as a job or community setting or we may be dealing with negative relationships such as romantic, business, or family. In these instances, you have to fully evaluate your situation and let go of the things that are no longer serving you. I know it’s easier said than done sometimes but your well-being and happiness are depending on it.

As with anything, practicing self love isn’t an overnight process. It will take time to go through the many transformations. It’s a good idea to start with the foods and drinks you are putting into your body. Fruits, vegetables, and plenty of water are ideal to ensure your body is receiving the energy it needs to operate at an optimal level. From there you should consider an exercise regimen such as walking at least 30 minutes a day. Taking a walk isn’t stressful on the body, it gets your heart rate up and allows improved usage of oxygen. Last but not least, you have to be mindful of the thoughts you are entertaining. It’s a good practice to start every morning with a positive thought about yourself. You can read or listen to positive affirmations to jump start your day. Anytime you find your mind dwelling on negative thoughts, it’s very important to redirect them to something positive.

I hope this blog post finds you practicing self love or lead you to it! Sending you love and light!!
